The Queen and the Captain

Ava has no interest in riding her own bike.  We have way too many options in storage waiting for her to transition, but she prefers this trailer.  So I call her the Queen.  She may be a "lily of the field...toils not neither does she spin." She makes me laugh and shake my head at the same time.  And then here's Jack being Captain America.   No doubt he's ready to take on the world!

Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day is one of my favorite times of the year, and we had a great weekend celebrating together with our family and also our moms and extended family.  We did some shopping in Anoka and then went to Outback for some prime rib - delicious!  It's one of my favorites.  It meant so much to be with our families and especially our moms who have been so good to us.  I'm grateful for both of them along with all of the other "moms" in my life who have helped and influenced me.  I got some meaningful cards from Jack and Ava who can write their own messages to me now.  I will keep them forever.  And I got some fun treats and a Magnolia Market gift card to spend on our upcoming trip.  More details to come!  Very exciting!

I asked Jack why he wanted this horn and he said, "To get your attention!" He certainly has!

Spring Program

The kids had their spring program at school this past week.  It was a musical display of all of the school kids performing vocal and instrumental music.  Besides singing with their classes, Jack sang a solo ("All I Ever Want to Be") and he and Ava also sang a duet ("I Am a Promise").  Of course, all of the kids did  great! Both sets of grandparents were able to come and we had a great time celebrating before and after with them.  It was wonderful having them there.  We have a great school, and we are so happy to be a part of it.

Pray for our yard.

We are completely a yard full of dandelions.  It's kind of fun pulling them up though.  Ava said, "What flowos am I going to pick fo you?" Be still my heart.  So sweet.  I love that she is excited about bringing them to me.

Here is Ava on the swing with me showing me everything in her treasure chest that will help her be on guard against invisible people.  That was what I got out of it anyway.  Fun!

My dear friend Colleen Tronson, director of Metro Women's Center.  It was fun having a little time with her today.

Spring Flowers!

These were taken at school, our house, and on the trail where I walk.  I can't get enough of it!  I love them all so much.

Kids Kids Kids!

Jack's 3rd quarter report card. All A's! I didn't take a picture of Ava's but she got all S's.  :) This actually happened on vacation so we didn't get them until we got back.  And of course, I'm behind a little on the blog!  But we are still proud.

Jack got to shoot a gun and still loves to gather all the shells he can find.  He keeps them in a big jar in his room.  And FYI there are 239!

Years ago, our pastor found Jack a bike free on the side of the road that he has used and used and used.  Time for a new one since he finally outgrew the other one.  He has loved having a bike his size now!

Ava and her friend MaryAnn at church all fixed up.

Crazy Hat Night with crazy kids!  They're fun though.

Happy birthday, Bek!

A couple of weeks ago, we got to celebrate Rebekah's birthday at Brent and Heidi's new house.  We had a great time with the family as always!
