The Harmons visit

Since they will be leaving for Uruguay soon, it was so nice to have the Harmon family stop in for a quick visit today.  We have enjoyed them so much, and they have been such a blessing to us!

Grandma and Granddaddy visit

We tried a breakfast place called Edie's downtown with Grandma and Grandaddy. They make huge pancakes shaped like bears, turtles, and rabbits.  Then we visited the shops, and we all got books!  We also went to Truman days nearby and for a walk on our path that day.  It's always so nice to be with family.  I'm so thankful for that opportunity!

Ava's birthday continued...

One fun thing about moving away is getting mail from special friends.  Ava has enjoyed getting cards and gifts in the mail.

Dress up

A few days ago a couple of happy superheroes came to see me and then the next thing I know, I had a visit from a prince and princess who came for a tea party.  It was ok though because they stayed and did the dishes.

Superhero party

We were able to stop by our buddy Wesley's 5th birthday party on the way out of town last weekend.  He and Ava share a birthday.  The kids had a great time playing and dressing up.  Even Ava dressed up!  A little fuzzy bc they're fast superheroes!  It was fun!

Visiting friends

It's so nice to have visitors, and we have enjoyed having family and friends here.  My friends Sharron and Nancy drove down and spent the day, and we had a great time showing them the town.  Wonderful time with wonderful ladies!  We are looking forward to more visits coming up in the next few weeks!

Ava's 3!

We had a great time this past weekend celebrating Ava's 3rd birthday.  Thursday night we had treats and a few presents with our family.  Friday morning, her actual birthday, we sang to her at 8:19 am and had special birthday donuts.  Then we packed the car and left for the cities to party with the family. We met Levi and Lexi at McDonald's as is our birthday custom and then had a family party that night.  She got way too spoiled and we felt spoiled too to be with the family.  Thanks, everyone, for all you did to make it such a great weekend!  I'm sure we will have more pictures from the camera to post.

Settled!

Ava said out of the blue the other day, "My yike dis new house!"  We all are feeling that way and are settling in quite nicely.  Someone told me when we were coming down here to look at houses that Fairmont is a nice place to be in the summer, and I have to say I totally agree!  It's beautiful!  I'm just sorry that it got started a little late this year.  I love the farms.  They are so beautiful, and we have a corn field across the street from our house.  So it's been fun to watch it grow.  There was nothing visible when we were here in May, and now it's getting tall!  You can almost watch it grow.

We have been to all of the recommended restaurants I think.  My favorite is probably the Mexican one.  That doesn't mean the food at the other places isn't as good; I just have a thing for Mexican food.  Which reminds me I started Weight Watchers again and usually try to lay off the Mexican places when I'm dieting.  So sad.  But I'm ready to do this!  God sent me a walking partner that lives across the street.  She about killed me today so maybe the Devil sent her.  Ha!

We have had a steady stream of visitors already and are enjoying it so much.  So please plan a trip to Fairmont if you haven't yet!  So we are staying busy although it's a different type of busy.  There always seems to be something to do.  There is more to take care of at the house since it is larger, and the kids keep me busy as always.  And now we have added activities with church preparation. We love it!  Not that we expect things to be perfect, but God has been preparing us for this time at this place.  And it's good!  We are sad to be apart from family and friends, but those visits help!  And we are not too far away to go back every now and then.

We have started to decorate Matt's office but it is not ready for viewing quite yet.  There will be pictures when it is!

Looking forward to heading home next week for Ava's 3rd birthday!  Wow!  Big girl - that's what she says anyway!

Happy 4th of July weekend!

We had a truly great 4th of July weekend!  It started with an awesome church picnic that many families attended.  It was so nice since that gave us a chance to meet many of our members' extended families.  We later attended the Fairmont City Band concert which was very well done and then watched fireworks on the lake.  It's been a while since we have had a normal 4th.  Matt used to have to work usually right around the fireworks time.  So I felt spoiled but thoroughly enjoyed it!

Then Brent and Heidi came for the weekend which made me a trifle homesick, but I was so thankful for the time with them.  We tried to show them most everything and give them the true flavor of Fairmont.  That included going out to a few restaurants like Babbs BBQ which is really just a trailer but has a great steak sandwich and the Mexican restaurant and then also The Ranch with all you can eat shrimp.  We also tried out a few things from Hyvee's deli.  Yum!  I think I will have to join Weight Watchers.  But we are happy to have a few good places around here to go!

We had a great Sunday at church with 111 in attendance, the highest since we've been here (praise the Lord), and then drove to Mankato today to meet Matt's parents to celebrate Grandma Fure's birthday.  We had a great time with them as well!  Now back to reality.  I'm excited about a morning at home tomorrow before we tackle Matt's office in the afternoon.  I'm excited to fix it up.  It definitely needs some love and attention.  We are looking forward to heading back home in less than two weeks for Ava's birthday party.  She will be three!  Here are some pictures from the weekend.
