Soccer started!

Jack did great for it being his first time and stopped lots of balls from being goals.  Of course, he loved being out in the action more so he could run.  It was fun to watch.  They all just run around in a swarm.  According to him, it all went "really good" with a thumbs up!  At least, he is confident!

Kids being funny

Ava has been saying Soooo lately.  "Soooo...what you guys do?"   Yesterday she said, "Sooo...my toys."

Jack said about meeting Jack Sparrow:  "I will never forget that!  Or maybe I will after a long time, and then you'll show me a picture."  Ha I guess that probably has been the case in the past.

Truman Days Parade

Our church had a great opportunity to have a float in the Truman Days Parade this past weekend.  We had about 20 kids and adults riding and walking along with it.  We loaded up some benches and lots of flowers and put our name on the back.  The kids wore their sashes from our Kids 4 Truth program and threw out candy while the adults passed out around 700 flyers about our church and programs.  Here's a picture of a few kids before we took off.  I wish I would have gotten one of the whole group, but once we all got there, we had to quickly take off.  So I forgot.  But it was so much fun, and I hope we can do it again next year!

Look who was in the float in front of us!  The kids were so excited!  Jack Sparrow and the Pirate Fairy spent lots of time with the kids, so that was really special.

Little Miss Truman

Truman is a town about ten minutes from Fairmont and every year they have Truman Days in which many activities take place.  This year I was asked to help judge a Little Miss/Mr. Truman contest.  I have never done that before, and I had the best time!  The kids were ages 5-11 and all so cute!  You hate to have to put a score on all of that potential.  My favorite part was the interview in which each contestant was interviewed individually by the judges panel.  They were asked a variety of questions such as favorite color, vacation spot, etc.  It was mostly to see how at ease they were with people.  I wrote down my favorite answers.  Some were just adorable and some were hilarious, and I mostly just loved hearing the genuine authenticity they have.

Here are some of them:
What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?  (After much thought) "Have lemonade!"

What do your mom and dad do? "Mostly walk around the house."

Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world?  "Grandma's house."  Another kid said, "The North Pole."

What's the most unique thing about you?  "I'm really a mermaid."

What do you want to be when you grow up?  "A mom."

Who wins when you and your brothers and sisters fight?  "Mostly my mom."

What do you want to do when you graduate?  "Be with my mom."

Who do you look like?  "Most people say I look like my mom and my dad."

What's your favorite part of Little Miss Truman?  "Being crowned!"  And looked at us like duh!

Here are the winners, but really they were all adorable and did a great job.

Latest Projects

Thanks to my friend, La Rae and also Matt who sanded my shiny brown bench.  It is beautiful and I love it!

We also bought a picket fence piece at a flea market a few weeks back, and now it is on our front porch.  We painted the steps and it looks so much better!
And the TV stand is now blue.  I would like to do something else to it too but not sure what yet, so it is done for now.

Not sure what will be next but it seems there's always room for more changes or improvements.

Ava's Party Weekend

We had family and presents and a pontoon ride and...winter at our house this past weekend!  Ava turning 4 was the reason for the big hoopla, and it was fun and tiring!  The Frozen party turned out great!  I asked Ava what her favorite part was, and she said blowing out her candles and everyone singing to her.  I think she liked the other stuff too but I thought that was a pretty good answer.  The best part is having people around who love you!  We also had some friends visit last week, Sam and Nora and their mom, Jenn, so that added to the excitement!  So we will get right to the pictures!

The kids were a little nervous on the pontoon and the reason?  We had visited the Titanic Exhibition on vacation.  They thought we might sink.  We didn't, and it was a good time!
