The many faces of Ava

Ava is a girl of few words unless she's talking to herself.  She also has a blank stare on her face a lot of the time when she's meeting people, and she's done that since birth so she always surprises me when her quirky personality comes out.  Tonight she was letting it all out!

This was Jack's favorite.

This is her favorite one.

Gossip

Remember the old gossip game?

Jack said, "Brrr, I'm getting chicken pox!"

I said, "Do you mean goosebumps?"

He said, "No, goose pox!"

Ava said, "Juicebox?"

T-ball!

Although we missed a week due to bad weather and another week due to being out of town, we finally made it tonight!  Jack got a great hit and didn't even use the T!  And even though he couldn't quite figure out where to go after 3rd base, he eventually made it home.  He is on the royal blue drivers education team which Matt thought was an odd sponsor - ha!  He loves blue so he was excited to be on the blue team.  We will also miss next week due to VBS, so I'm not sure it was worth it to sign up for T-ball this year.  But still fun!  I think he's glad anyway.  We also have swimming lessons starting for both of them next week and soccer coming in July for Jack along with a free 4-h Day and library events to keep us busy.  We are going to try to do as much as we can!

Silly Children

Ava wrote her name!

Hers is the one written vertically.

Father's Day!

We were able to celebrate with my dad early in Colorado and celebrated with Matt on Sunday of course.  And we are looking forward to meeting up with Matt's dad soon.  What a wonderful time to celebrate the special men in our lives who are full of integrity and kindness and who make such an impact on us every day.  Matt got some clothes and a fishing pole to fish with Jack and my dad got some things for his office and ketchup and mustard bottles which was due to a Colorado incident.  You can ask him about it!

Conversations in the car

We were in the car a loooong time on our trip, so I wrote down comments from the kids.  I haven't done that in a while so I tried to be more conscious of what they were saying.

On driving through the badlands, Ava asked where the Devil was.  And "wheow ow the good yands".  (Where are the good lands?)

Whenever Jack tells her she's too little, she says, "I'm a big gol.  I go potty!"  I agree!

Ava has been telling us she misses us anytime we are apart even if for a few minutes.  That's nice to hear!

Jack said he couldn't wait until we were regular driving instead of without all of the stuff.  Yes, our little car was packed; but we had no car trouble, and the cruise control works now!

Jack has said when food was a little hot for him, "My neck is spicing up"; so the other day when we had Mexican, he said, "My mouth is spicing up, but I just keep eating!"  Too good to stop, I guess.

Jack has been talking to Ava about salvation and baptism, and she is starting to ask some questions which come out kind of comical sometimes.  She says that she wants to be baptized when she gets old so she can go to heaven.  She doesn't want to be weally weally weally old, just old.  She doesn't want to die when she goes to heaven.  She also said I will go to hell when I be bad.  So I guess she is starting to question things.  I just have to pay attention to what Jack is telling her and make sure the information is transferred correctly.

These are fun times, and memories are being made!
